Complete Procedure of Latest SSB Interview Pattern & Marking Scheme

Understanding the latest SSB Interview pattern and marking scheme is essential for NDA, CDS, and AFCAT aspirants preparing for the SSB interview. The SSB selection process is a five-day personality assessment conducted by the Services Selection Board to evaluate Officer Like Qualities (OLQs), leadership skills, communication ability, decision-making power, and overall personality development. Proper knowledge of the SSB procedure helps candidates plan an effective SSB interview preparation strategy and improve recommendation chances.

Stage 1: Screening Test (Day 1)

The Screening Test is the first stage of the NDA, CDS, and AFCAT SSB interview process. It includes the Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT). Candidates are shortlisted based on combined performance in OIR and PPDT narration and group discussion. Strong communication skills, confidence, and clarity of thought are crucial for clearing this stage. Many aspirants get screened out due to poor story narration or lack of participation in group discussion during SSB preparation.

Stage 2: Psychology Tests (Day 2)

The SSB Psychology Test consists of TAT (Thematic Apperception Test), WAT (Word Association Test), SRT (Situation Reaction Test), and Self Description (SD). These tests assess your natural thought process, personality traits, emotional stability, and OLQ development. Responses must be practical, positive, time-bound, and aligned with officer-like behavior. Regular psychology test practice is important for strong SSB interview performance.

Stage 3: GTO Tasks (Day 3 & 4)

The Group Testing Officer (GTO) tasks evaluate teamwork, leadership qualities, stamina, planning ability, and problem-solving skills. Activities include Group Discussion, Group Planning Exercise (GPE), Progressive Group Task (PGT), Half Group Task (HGT), Lecturette, Command Task, and Individual Obstacles. Active participation and team coordination are key for better performance in this stage of the SSB selection process.

Personal Interview & Conference (Final Stage)

The Personal Interview round checks your background knowledge, current affairs awareness, confidence level, and clarity of career goals in defence services. On the final day, the Conference round is conducted where all assessors jointly evaluate overall performance and decide recommendation.

SSB Marking Scheme & Evaluation

There is no officially disclosed fixed numerical marking system in the SSB interview marking scheme. Candidates are assessed holistically based on consistent demonstration of OLQs across Screening, Psychology Tests, GTO tasks, and Personal Interview. Balanced performance in all stages significantly increases recommendation chances in the NDA, CDS, and AFCAT SSB interview process.
